aterciopelados at the troubador [listening]

from my flickr collection
aterciopelados at the troubadour

i've said it before and i'll say it again: i love aterciopelados. they are my favorite latin american band. for bands currently making albums and touring, they are also in the top for me. they have excellent live shows. so i was very excited that they would be playing at the troubadour, a venue i have not yet been to. i was also very excited to take my girlfriend as i thought she might enjoy the music.

we arrived at the venue and hung out by the bar. i brought my camera and wanted a good spot near the stage to take pictures. i couldn't be right in front of the stage. all those spots were taken. so we found a little area to the side where they were shorter people and i might still get a decent shot. some time passed and one person in front of us turned to leave and go to the back. it was then that our jaws dropped. it was my ex! more time passes and i wonder who she arrived with. could it be a co-worker? and then it hit me, it's her older sister! i decided i should be nice and say hi. i tried to break the ice with a joke. that did not go well at all. instead, i was met with hostility and a hand put up in my face. the sister did not even acknowledge my presence. i let it slide and didn't say another word. later on, her younger sister arrived and as soon as she saw me, she high-tailed it out of the area. i knew that the family hates me. my ex would say that's not true. look at the evidence. they hate me. this whole time i had been afraid my gf and i would run into my ex in weho at the gay clubs. i never thought i'd run into her in weho at a concert!

all that negativity aside, the show was pretty good if not too short. the entire time there was an older man taking photos with a camera the same brand as mind but slightly lower in quality. (his camera's lens cannot be changed.) however, his camera had a huge preview screen and it looked like he was getting some amazing shots. very clear and crisp. i was getting camera jealous. i cannot preview in real time with my dslr. i have to look through the viewfinder. the preview screen is much smaller and i am often too lazy to zoom in to see if the image is truly in focus. many times it is not and i go home to disappointment. i don't think that guy has as much disappointment with his phtoos. for the first time, i am starting to rethink this whole dslr thing.
