april's netflix buffet [watching]
the amount of netflix i am able to watch has increased but i'm still not sure if i'm getting my money's worth, hehehe.
"capitalism: a love story" - i don't know whether to love or hate michael moore but he definitely made another zinger.
"the white stripes: under northern lights" - the white stripes seems to love the uk and canada. they need to start loving america. they cancelled the american tour and so all we are left with is footage from canada of what could have been happening in our soil. maybe i'm just bitter because i had tickets and it was going to be the first time i would finally get to see the band.
"battle royale" - not a huge tarantino fan but i read somewhere i think that this film inspired him. as someone of japanese descent who used to live in japan, i kind of pay attention now and then to what non-japanese who love japanese things are into. i find that non-japanese tend to like things completely different that what japanese like. or perhaps such individuals like more cult status things than mainstream and when i think of japan, i think of the mainstream. anyway, that's a big digression from my thoughts on the film but i just wanted to give some background on why i would watch it and how my tastes are. i thought this film was pretty good. in fact, i'd read the book. it's that kind of good. dystopic japan type film where the youth have gone wild and are pitted against themselves. do not compare this to "lord of the flies" or such shit. just enjoy.
"food, inc." - really good documentary about food. i like chipotle a lot more now. i may be an odd vegan. i'm not completely against people who don't eat like me and think everyone should go vegan. it just works for me. if you're going to eat things like dairy or meat, i just feel it should be the best it can be, the most wholesome it can be. the way food should be. healthy, nutritious, and not all the negative things that are going on now. this film offers some glimmer of hope for such change. is it sustainable or feasable to feed the world this way? i don't know. human greed, power, and corruption will get in the way i'm sure.
"live forever" - britpop! nice to relive the moments. i swear, sometimes i'm just living in the wrong country.
