hole at the music box at the fonda [listening]
courtney love is back! and she's using the name hole even though she's the only original member. it's a real shame that she doesn't get along with patty or eric anymore but i can understand that. all these years without hole, i was curious to see if she can still pull it off. i didn't pay attention during her solo record. i heard some snippets and it was so bad that i wasn't interested.
i'd say that courtney can still do it, but she needs work. she needs people who care about her. she needs to stop with the plastic surgery and image obsessions. she looks odd, not like herself. it's weird how looking at her dead on versus profile is such a big change. at one angle she looks perfectly fine, just a little older than before, and yet with another angle things look out of whack. her posture also bothers me. like she has become feeble. she really needs love, to love herself and someone to love. she needs to be courtney love.
as for the concert, well the opening band was little fish and they totally felt like they wanted to be pj harvey but just didn't have it. i did like one song enough that i might get it but that's about it. they said it's the new single that will be on itunes. if i can bother to remember that...
i have big issues with hole's new guitarist! he doesn't seem to give a fuck about music or concerts. he was just this robot. he had no passion. he didn't seem like a rocker at all. courtney praises the death out of this guy in interviews. perhaps he's just a total sub.
i did get a laugh out of all the fans who thought it was the early 90s, dressing like courtney did then. please, she moved on, you can too. i'm not sure if anyone did the late 90s glamorized version of courtney. or the black-haired version (which is hot). let's face it, you can deny it but courtney was hot in the day. she had this energy and she could also be vulnerable. but she was also motherfucking crazy. i didn't like her at first but i was drawn to her and became a total little fangirl. so i can be pretty forgiving but if the music doesn't rock then forget it.
i'm not sure if the show ended early with a long encore or if they played the show in two parts. the opening medley song was kind of short too. i know they need to push the new songs but the show could've really benefitted from some of their stronger tracks from previous releases. some fan wanted to hear "gold dust woman" and if you're gonna pull out a rarity you don't expect to hear, you shouldn't do some cover that was on a soundtrack, argh. i did have a handful of songs i wanted to hear and those were played so i'm happy with that. after they were done playing, i saw linda perry in the audience so i went up to say a few words. damn, what a bitch. that's all i gotta say.
