the manic street preachers live [listening]
tonight i finally saw the manic street preachers live. it was at the palace (i refuse to call it the avalon, hahaha) in los angeles. parking there was ridiculously expensive but now they've added $5 more to it, insane! i missed most of the concert due to my poor planning but i'm glad to be able to say that i've seen them live as i never thought i would and that i saw them perform one song from my favorite album.
poor planning: i didn't realize doors opened at 7pm when i made arrangements to pick up my friend who was going with me. that's when i left my house! i knew we'd probably miss the opening band but things were going slow. we had to have dinner first. i know that restaurant is slow. i should've adjusted my plans once i realized doors opened at 7pm. but i've been craving their food so i had to go.
i looked up online what songs the band has been playing of late and they pretty much stuck to that setlist. i therefore had a very good sense of what i missed. after the show, the setlist was confirmed to me when i saw someone had a copy of it. hearing the singer sing some songs by himself acoustically was just beautiful. chills!
setlist:
motorcycle emptiness
no surface all feeling
peeled apples
your love alone is not enough
la tristesse durera
jackie collins existential question time
let robeson sing
faster
everything must go
this joke sport severed
from despair to where
if you tolerate this then your children will be next [this is when i got there]
small black flowers that grow in the sky (acoustic)
this is yesterday (acoustic)
send away the tigers
you stole the sun from my heart
all or nothing/motown junk
autumn song [not played]
me and stephen hawking
little baby nothing
you love us
a design for life
