camping day 3 [traveling]

breakfast: tofu scramble and potatoes (i mixed mine together, yummier that way)

last night we slept a little better so we got up earlier as we were more rested than the day before. for breakfast, we made potatoes and tofu again, but this time i added onions to the potatoes. again i was so hungry that i almost forgot to take a picture! we also finished the peach blueberry dessert. then we packed up and cleaned up. yes, it's time to get all of our stuff together and get out of here. funny how you can never pack up as neatly as when you buy something. i actually still had the box my tent came in but there was no way getting it in there nicely. it just wasn't happening. so i got rid of the box. put away the air mattress, another thing that just didn't fold as well. but i was able to put away those chairs, damn it!

going through tunnel log

we went to the lodgepole center area and saw a video on bears. hmm, now i know a little something about them! after that we saw a couple logs. first was the auto log. what to say about the auto log? well, it's big. it looks like you used to be able to drive your car on it. then we saw the tunnel log. it fell over and they carved part of it so you can drive your car through it, hence the log is a tunnel. it's a bit of a popular spot, given the photo opportunity. but there was another wonderful photo opportunity while we were there. there was a deer. sure, big deal, i used to see them all the time. but this one was so cute. it was eating. i wish i had better zoom because i didn't want to get too close and scare it away, though it did let people get surprisingly close. i was glad i was at least able to take the picture because earlier i had missed the perfect squirrel shot. it was on a tree with something in it's mouth and looked right at me. it was too damn quick for me to grab my camera, though.

after the logs, it was time for rocks. ok, only one rock, but it was a big one. we saw moro rock as we were driving to the park. i had not read about it beforehand and when i saw it driving up, well i had not planned on climbing up it but that's what we did. it was actually quite popular and we had to create our own parking spot to get up the rock. you climb and you climb and you climb. it's kind of worth it. at least, as our last camping day, it was worth it to just absorb the view and say goodbye to nature. plus i had my ansel adams moment and took some black and white shots. after all that, i felt like using the restroom but the smell emanating from the restrooms was just too funky, even though we were several feet away. so there was no way i was gonna get any closer to them. time to leave!

climbing up moro rock

as we were driving back, we stopped for some gas, used the restroom (much nicer than moro rock), and i bought a phone charger for the car so we could make calls should there be an emergency, text people that we were on our way home, and check to see if maybe, just maybe, there was a terribly important email. i purposely took a certain route on the way back. i wanted to drive through a certain town. in fact, that's how this whole camping trip started. i created a fake child for my ex- and she started giving it a bio. she even made up that it's going to boarding school abroad and came up with a name for the town. i was pretty surprised to find a city in california with the same name and when i found it i just was so excited and wanted to kidnap her for a few hours to drive up there. but how silly is that? drive for 3-4 hours just to show some small town and then drive back? ridiculous! so let's go camping instead and pass through the town, hahahaaa. she thought it was kinda cute that we went through there but it wasn't the kind of reaction i was hoping for, oh well. when we reached LA, we had dinner at green leaves.

today's tips: bring lots of bags (plastic or paper), as they are very handy for trash, storing shoes at night, carrying things, etc.
