rides, music, and fabulous people [living]

last night my ex- and i went to gay night at knott's. i'm actually surprised that we went. much closer to the breakup, i had asked if she would want to go and she was against it as she was still too closeted. didn't make sense to me since it was a private event and we've gone to that kind of gay night at an amusement park before. i didn't realize that i had forced so much! so then i started thinking i might go but how sad to go by myself. and then once i got home, how would i find parking?! anyway, eventually my ex- got more comfortable and more out and we decided to go.

there weren't very many people there. that's good and bad. it's good because you could get on the lines without waiting in line. if you try to get on the rides during normal hours, forget it! this was walk up and get on the ride within 5 minutes, no joke. (silver bullet being the exception where i had to wait for a bit.) however, it's bad because if attendance is low then i wonder if they make enough money to make a profit and keep presenting events like this...because i really love gay day at amusement parks.

not on a roller coaster

as there were so few people, i wanted to make the most of it. i wasn't going to get on rides without my ex- because i didn't want her hanging around bored. however, since the lines were so short, i wouldn't be leaving her hanging for long. there's several new rides i've never been on. (well, new to me.) i went on all of them. it's been so long since i went on a real coaster that even jaguar felt like a coaster to me. that's the only "coaster" she'll get on so we went on it twice. by myself i went on about 4 rides. ghost rider isn't bad, it's quite a long ride, but my favorite was silver bullet. that was awesome! when we were on the mine ride, there were lots of people on and we shared a car with several people who all seemed to be friends. one couple was taking pictures of everyone and took a picture of us. the guy asked if we were a couple and i said yes, afterall, let's not confuse everyone with long stories. he said we make a cute couple. that made me feel really good.

for entertainment, there were things happening at calico square. the dreamgirls drag revue was gonna be there and my ex- has been wanting to see them so we went to check it out. we didn't stay for the whole thing because let's face it, a drag revue is much more suited for the boys. once it got to the icons that are not icons for my ex-, we split for some rides. there was also supposed to be some dance areas so we went to check them out. one of them wasn't as advertised. it was supposed to be latin but it was heavily hip-hop. another one didn't seem to exist at all. the hall was empty. the other one wasn't so bad. not many people there so we hit the dance floor for a few songs.

overall i really enjoyed myself. i had a good time. dare i say the evening was even a bit romantic? i tell you, i really love gay day/night at amusement parks with real rides, especially when they are closed, private events.
