the mummy [reading]
i've owned "the mummy" by anne rice for years. a friend gave it to me in high school but i've never read it until now. it's a stand-alone story, though at the end rice promises a continuation of the tell but she has so far yet to release one. as usual, when i was reading the book i tried to imagine what a movie version might be like. i was thinking there might have to be some changes to make it more exciting. the first part of the book is really lovey dovey and everything is going too good and romantic soap opera. you get sucked into thinking it's gonna be a dull love story when rice hits you with the twist that is needed. after that, it's much easier to read. but like a soap opera, people are falling deeply in love so quickly and easily. is real life really like that? or is it just fiction? or maybe i'm just a cynic. and the book. well it was ok. her other stuff is better. but if you need to read something and you like a touch of mummies, egypt, and the romantic, give it a go.
