communist anthems on vinyl [listening]

i still have some packing and cleanup to do at my old place. in the process, i helped to unpack some things we never unpacked when we moved in. i setup the record player for my ex-. only, it's been 5 years since we used the thing that i had forgotten how to attach a belt to the drive! i actually had to turn to the internet for a tutorial. ahahahahaaa

so i get the belt on, hookup the pre-amp to the stereo she got just for her ipod. it has a line in afterall, why not line in some vinyl? the first record i play to make sure the thing works was siouxsie. her copy, not mine. most of my records are at my new place but i left behind 2 or 3. i decide to put on one of those next. it's a great little piece of vinyl history. it's from east germany around 1988 at the latest. it contains all the national anthems of communist countries at the time. since it's in german and i've forgotten the flags of countries that no longer exist, i'm not sure of all the countries on it. i guessed all but one of them. i couldn't listen to the whole thing, just one side. i feel like this record will come in handy later. it's just such a piece of nostalgia given that communism fell 20 years ago.
