valkyrie [watching]

it was one of those days where you have to get out of the house. so you grab some vegan burgers and fries and then head for the movies, hoping that the next picture showing is something you want to see. and that's how i ended up watching "valkyrie", the film about the german officers who tried to assassinate adolf hitler. i really don't like tom cruise but i read one review that said despite cruise being in it, it's a good movie. you know what? it's true. this was quite enjoyable. in fact, the people around me were talking back to the screen at different moments, mostly just saying "do it" when it was time to kill hitler. in some ways i felt like this film was a little too romanticizing ideals but that's the overall message of the film, so be it. perhaps what was the most interesting was the little line at the end of the film that said this was the last of 15 known attempts to assassinate hitler by his own people, at least i think they were all german attempts. i didn't realize there had been that many. you can read a bit about them online: assassination attempts on hitler's life.

today's heartbreak lyrics are from a band i used to listen to a lot when i was a teenager in high school and just starting university. how bizarre that my ex- has only really gotten into them in the past year. why become more like the old me at the very end of our relationship? it's bizarre. (they also played punk music on my ipod post-breakup which was something i could have never even dreamed of!)

"love you to death" by london after midnight

i die when i hear your voice,
to touch you divine.
be my possession, my sweet obsession wine.

i'm dealing in demons love,
is just a matter of time.
i'll wear you down,
one day you will be mine.

only i can make your life complete,
just give yourself to me.
only i can make your destiny.

so give me your heart my love,
and give me your soul.
i'd give you mine but i
sold it long ago.

only i can see inside of you
just give yourself to me.
and i won't stop until you see the truth.

i love you to death.
i love you completely,
a love that is purely vain.
i never meant to hurt you so badly,
i thought you'd enjoy the pain.

i know what you feel it love,
i can tell from your tears.
so don't deny me,
give into your fears.

i love you to death.
i love you completely,
a love that is purely vain.
i never meant to hurt you so badly,
i thought you'd enjoy the pain.
i love you to death.
i love you completely,
a love that is purely vain.
i never meant to hurt you so badly,
i thought you'd enjoy the pain.
