a day in coyoacan [traveling]

feeding squirrels at viveros de coyoacan

this morning's "shower" was more like a cold bucket bidet for me since i didn't want to bother. for breakfast we had tlacoyos, which i never heard of before but it was like a stuffed huarache.

today was the day i had planned to meet a buck-tick fan in coyoacan. since my attempt at a fan meetup last year was disastrous, i decided to only contact one person to meet. i met this person online after my last trip so they never had known about the meetup prior. but before going to meet this person, we decided to go to the viveros de coyoacan, which is a huge garden complex famous for the friendly squirrels that you can feed. we bought some peanuts still in their shells and proceeded to find some squirrels to feed.

b-t meetup in df

we walked around the plaza area in the central part of coyoacan and then met the buck-tick fan. her friends were unable to make it today. sounds like last year, hahahaa. anyway, we went and had coffee at cafe bizarro. i ordered the cafe de olla. now i don't normally drink coffee so probably my opinion means nothing but damn if that wasn't some really good coffee. if you're a straight black drinker then you would've hated it. it was a bit sweet and had cinnamon. i found the cinnamon touch to be very mexican. we chatted for awhile and then once hunger started to appear, walked over to vege taco for some dinner. i ate there last year and it was really good. i didn't have a map on me but i remembered the general area where it was and led the way. just when i was starting to think that my memory was faulty, i saw the sign for the street it's on and we were there. i had only two tacos, one pastor and one pibíl and drank a beet/pineapple juice mix. the tacos are still damn good.
