2 halloween celebrations [living]
this would be one of those i came home late past midnight but i'm posting it on halloween regardless 'cos this be all about halloween!
i had 2 halloween celebrations because we had a little potluck lunch party at work and then at night i went out with friends. originally i had intended to wear 2 different costumes, one for each event. however, it was a hot halloween. my day started really early, i woke up at 4:45am to a light rain. i got ready and dressed in my first halloween outfit. as the day went on it got hotter. they weren't blasting the air conditioner at work like they normally do. i was my default costume of a devil with horns glued to my forehead. i was sweating so much that i almost lost a horn. my outfit for night was to use my old goth pvc clothes and be trinity from the matrix but it was too damn hot to be trinity. if i had worn that, i would have passed out or died from dehydration. i stuck with the devil outfit all day but i reapplied glue for the horns. again, at night i sweated so much that i almost lost my horns.
people at work are lame! very few dressed up. work kind of felt deserted because there was a retreat today for one group of people so many were not there. plus with halloween being on friday, i felt like some people called in sick to enjoy halloween instead. i just couldn't feel like working either. hardly anyone was on my floor and i was all dressed up. how could i concentrate on work? i'm glad that my boss gathered everyone who dressed up and we walked around to the various departments to go reverse trick or treating--we said "trick or treat" but we gave away candy. a lot of the people we bumped into were foreign students and so they were completely perplexed. either they're not familiar with halloween or giving them candy perplexed them. there was a costume contest at work but with so few dressing up, if you did dress up then you were pretty much guaranteed a prize. the prizes were just promotional goods that companies have given our department so it's not really a big deal but at least i got something for putting in effort into halloween.
now for the evening when i went out with friends. let me tell you, gays love halloween. it is our holiday for sure. so where else better to be than in the heart of it, in west hollywood. gays and lesbians can come together, especially for halloween, so ultra suede had both sides open, one side for dykes (girlbar) and the other for the fags (not sure what they call their club, hahahaaa). it took me awhile to get into the music. it always sucks on the girl side, even if a guy is dj-ing. i don't know why that it is, it just is. the kind of music they play is a lot of that "oh damn, that's my jam" and "throw your hands in the air" type shit. after 1-2 hours, i eventually got into it, but if not more in a comedic way than anything else. as i was dancing, i was pretending to be the rabid rabbits of the video game when they dance as well as kind of making fun of popular hip-hop style dancing and freaking. one older weird creepy guy started kinda freaking behind me at that point and i changed my direction of dancing so he wasn't on me and then he walked away, thank goodness! i don't understand the straight people at the gay clubs and it's always couples or weird creepy guys. i think both types are looking to get off or hook up with lesbians, which isn't gonna happen so go home already.
we went back and forth between the girl side and boy side. the boy side was clearly playing better music and had a more festive mood. my friends commented on how bitchy the women were and skanky. i was paying attention more to costumes. i noticed that lesbian couples like to dress alike, even for halloween! i saw matching pirates, school girls, skeletons, etc. i also noticed how much better looking the guys were than the girls. damn, maybe i'll become a gay man. seriously, it was a significant difference. it got really damn hot in that club and even though i had freshly re-glued my horns on for the evening's festivities, again i was sweating so much that they were coming off. after all that dancing, everyone was pretty much tired and hungry. we're all vegan but there's nothing open past 2am, pickings are quite slim, and especially nothing vegan open.
