skull Projects

Another "project" of mine is to minimize my life and I'm starting off by selling (and a few trades) most of my music collection. For now I am only listing about 200 pieces at a time, otherwise it becomes too much to deal with. half.com, ebay, amazon.com, lala.com

september netflixes [watching]

here's what the calavera contingent watched in september.

derailed - ok, i didn't put this in my queue for a glimpse cinematic genius, superb acting, or mind blowing special effects. i just wanted some eye candy, i just wanted to see laura harring. but, this film really blows! please avoid it. unless you are a very big fan of jean-claude van damme and even then i'd say to avoid this film.

delirious - cute little film about taking pictures of celebrities for money, i.e., paparazzi. nothing to rush out to go see unless of course "derailed" just started and then you should run like forrest gump.

love my life - eh, so-so story of a young lesbian couple in tokyo. sure i learned a few new words but i didn't write them down so i didn't actually learn them. what i primarily learned is: young cute girls dig chicks with mohawks. hahahaaa

tootsie / mr. mom - i put these at the top of the queue after we were out shopping and saw some dvds for sale. there were several 80s classics which twiddle thumbs had not seen. in shock, i decided it was time to school her in the 80s classics! i probably haven't seen these since the 80s either. i thought "mr. mom" would be really good but it feels so outdated now to say what a crazy concept that the mom makes the money and the dad takes care of the kids. but still, some funny gender role moments. and speaking of gender roles, wow "tootsie" was really good. i had a lot of laughs. i probably appreciate it much more now then when i was a kid.

the other side of the street - i added this to the queue back i when i was trying to watch as many brasilian/argentine movies as possible. the quick description was that this is brazilian "rear window". that it is not! do not be fooled by such a cheap review. more like a story about one of those older ladies who has not much to do so she spies on neighbors and rats on people to the police. then one day she gets really involved in one of the cases and thinks the police are wrong about it so she becomes a detective. in the process starts dating the suspect in order to find out more but the suspect falls in love with her. one or two touching points, otherwise another so-so tale.

watching the detectives - ok, maybe it's the film lover in me, but i thought this was a really cute film about a young crazy couple. i say film lover because the male lead runs a video store and so you are sucked into the film at the beginning if you are a film lover because you might be able to draw connections between his crowd and perhaps your crowd. then enters the love interest to the story and wacky stuff happens because she loves to play games and create scenarios. more like, ultimate pranks. i like small pranks but this girl really takes it far. hmmm, maybe i'm getting ideas. no, i'd never go that far!
