i saw someone else do this in their blog and it amused me so i'm doing it too. you play your music, you write down the first line, and have people guess what song it is.

my itunes would be too huge because i don't even know all those songs so i'm shuffling my ipod. i hope the songs that come up are languages that i speak or else i'm screwed. (several marlene dietrich songs in german came up and it was a pain in the ass to find the lyrics and when i did find them to a few songs, the title was sung in the first line. plus some other obscure bands for which i can't tell what they're saying and the lyrics are not online.) if in the first line of the song the title is sung, i'll skip it. if an instrumental comes up, i'll skip it. (there were several!) if it's a cover, i'll skip it (because it's not fair to guess which version of the song it is).

rules:
1. put your music player on random
2. post the first line of the first 25 songs that play no matter how embarrassing
3. let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from
4. strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly (so please comment if you think you know the artist & title)
5. no cheating (you either know it or you don't)

my comment: wow, it's amazing on how many songs on my ipod that i don't listen to often showed up when making this list. due to all the instrumentals, songs whose titles are song in the first line, and songs for which i couldn't find the lyrics because they're in another language and such, instead of the first 25 songs this was actually the first 44 songs.
