skull Projects

Another "project" of mine is to minimize my life and I'm starting off by selling (and a few trades) most of my music collection. For now I am only listing about 200 pieces at a time, otherwise it becomes too much to deal with. If you do not see what you are looking for, then email me which band you are interested in and I'll see if I have what you're looking for. half.com, ebay, amazon.com, lala.com

london well before midnight [listening]

i had dinner in little tokyo before going to see a concert. london after midnight was opening up for mindless self indulgence. i've liked london after midnight since high school when they were a local goth band with only demo tapes. another opening band was the birthday massacre. i thought surely london after midnight would go on second. if i had known they were such a punctual group, i would have hurried through dinner and to get to the venue. i spent 5 minutes after eating to look at a store next door then spent a few minutes in the car getting ready. i would have gotten ready in line had i known.

we get inside the venue and were going to go to the restroom but i realize the music playing is london after midnight. we have seats upstairs so we go up there and try to find our place in the dark. we are very shocked when the band leaves the stage at around 8:20pm or 8:25pm. the time on the tickets were 8pm. usually that means when doors open, not when the opening band goes on and not right on the dot. we only got to see 1.5 songs. what a waste.

the birthday massacre are horrible but we decide to stick around to see if mindless self indulgence are worth it. we go downstairs in case they suck so we can leave right away. we notice next to the merchandise booth is london after midnight just hanging out, signing autographs, and taking pictures with fans. it's not exactly orderly. one group in front of us lingers. they do not leave even though they've done their pictures, etc. the singer thinks he's done so he turns around to chit chat with another member. i don't want him to leave so i politely interrupt to ask for a picture but all i have is my crappy camera phone. it'll have to do. i tell him how i used to see him back in the day and he is appreciative and mentions a fan in arizona who brought their very first demo tape. that's pretty cool. i never bought the album that was released last year so i decide it's my chance so i buy it and go back to have him sign it and tell him i'm looking forward to the show in september. that's when i'll get to see the band properly!

mindless self indulgence takes the stage and they blow so we head out of there. that was my night.
