skull Projects

Another "project" of mine is to minimize my life and I'm starting off by selling (and a few trades) most of my music collection. For now I am only listing about 200 pieces at a time, otherwise it becomes too much to deal with. If you do not see what you are looking for, then email me which band you are interested in and I'll see if I have what you're looking for. half.com, ebay, amazon.com, lala.com

camp freddy residency #4 [listening]

last night was residency #4 for camp freddy at the roxy. overall, this was probably the worst show. it was ok but nothing exciting happened. i wasn't particularly thrilled with the choice of songs or guests. brett scallions, brandon boyd, and chino moreno were all very boring performers. i especially didn't like that they were singing songs they did not know. some of them had notes on the floor, written on their hand, or just looked confused in general. chino really needs to pull up his pants and wear clothes that fit.

tom morello was a guest and i was wondering when he was going to show up because he's known dave navarro since they were both young in bands and just starting out. i love the story in a guitar magazine years ago about how tom's group lockup opened for jane's on halloween and the band was in costume and pretended to be jane's, complete with morello dressed like navarro. i was also at a bad part of the stage for pictures but i managed to get a couple of ok ones. the opening band was moving picture show and so far they have the most talent out of all the opening bands. after the show was over i wanted to grab dave's setlist because no one went for it. at the roxy there is a curtain and the curtain already went down. i lifted it up to grab the setlist which was within inches of the curtain. as i was trying to neatly lift the tape, a roadie smacked my head or stepped on it, and i recoiled back then peeked seconds later and he had ripped it off the floor, leaving vital bits behind. i just couldn't believe it. it's a piece of trash to them and it's customary for fans to grab the setlist. i wasn't trying to steal any equipment like some people do. i just wanted what they consider trash. i guess it's just been awhile since that sort of thing has happened to me so it was a blow to my concert experience. and that kids is why you take a photo of the setlist at the start of the show if you can! i've also seen setlists torn to shreds during very energetic performances. again, take a photo while you can.

a perverse moment in the show was when tiffany sang the sex pistols' "pretty vacant" and glenn matlock was on bass. glenn was the original bassist kicked out for being too squeaky clean and not fitting in. you know what? i can finally see why. i used to really like the pistols in high school and was all into researching 70s london punk back then. i would look at pictures and not understand the comments people made about glenn but now i know. the guy seemed like a doofus. i can't seem him as once being a pistol, sorry.

here's some pictures i took:
