skull Projects

Another "project" of mine is to minimize my life and I'm starting off by selling (and a few trades) most of my music collection. For now I am only listing about 200 pieces at a time, otherwise it becomes too much to deal with. If you do not see what you are looking for, then email me which band you are interested in and I'll see if I have what you're looking for. half.com, ebay, amazon.com, lala.com

camp freddy residency #2 [listening]

last night we went to see camp freddy at the roxy. tonight was their second time of thursday nights at the roxy.

the openers were called melotia. wow... they sucked. every song sounded the same. the lead guitar was no lead at all. i could've come up with that stuff. only the very last song showed some complexity that would require rehearsing. sorry to be so negative but it was that bad. on top of that, at the very end of the set, the drummer threw his stick into the audience, hitting twiddle thumbs right in the head, before it went on to some guy behind us who kept it. once he realized it hit her, he gave the drum stick to her. turns out he's in a band that will open up for camp freddy later in the month and made us promise we'll go to that show. dude, we're going to them all.

guests: steve jones and paul cook again, jerry cantrell again, tommy lee (motley crue), two girls from mcqueen (never heard of the band before), billy duffy (the cult), duff mckagan and slash (guns 'n' roses), and chester bennington (linkin park)

last time it felt like the next best thing to the sex pistols. this time it felt like the next best thing to guns 'n' roses. seriously, again a reunion of that band would suck. the sound was tight and the vocals were good enough. overall the show was tighter and more energetic i think than last time. the guests were also more along my line of tastes so that helps. also, we stood right in front of dave navarro so i was able to get my dave rock star shot that i wanted. he also noticed that we were back to standing in front of him so in a gesture of forgiveness from last week, he came over and kissed us on the heads. it was cool but weird and my gut reaction was simply to say "thank you". it was a really good show overall that i just can't put words to it. rockers having fun and the audience lapping it up.

here's some pictures i took:
