skull Projects

Another "project" of mine is to minimize my life and I'm starting off by selling (and a few trades) most of my music collection. For now I am only listing about 200 pieces at a time, otherwise it becomes too much to deal with. If you do not see what you are looking for, then email me which band you are interested in and I'll see if I have what you're looking for. half.com, ebay, amazon.com, lala.com

siouxsie solo live [listening]

from my flickr collection
drinks from peru

last night we went to see siouxsie's solo show live but before i get to that i want to mention a couple other things. first, earlier yesterday we quite unexpectedly got a wii. we had to go to costco for something else and we saw they had 10-15 bundles. shit. we have never seen a wii in stock so we put it in our cart as we walked around the store. by the time we were done shopping, we didn't put the wii back. who knows when we'll see it on the shelf and this bundle is a good deal. we didn't even have time to open it up and plug it in as we had other things to do. so we dropped it off at home and then did some other stuff and went to see siouxsie. it was late when we got back from the concert but we couldn't go to sleep without trying out the wii so we stayed up even later than we normally do to play video games. then today, we went down to manhattan beach and made a detour on the way home to check out a peruvian store. we bought a few drinks but no alcohol. i got a yerba mate soda just for the hell of it. i don't like mate so i thought carbonated mate would be shit but the stuff was really good.

back to the siouxsie show. well, all i have to say is that i hope she makes amends with people from her past because the solo album is not good and the concert was not good. i was hoping that the live show would show me how i misjudged the solo album but all it did was prove how siouxsie has gone from exciting artist in the now to a figure one becomes nostalgic at and goes to see live because they liked her wway back when. this solo album is especially painful to listen to because the album she put out before that ("hai!") with the creatures was sooooooo fucking good. i'm hoping that this solo album is the adjustment period and she will find her solo artistic sense when composing her next batch of songs. i bought some tour merchandise to support the artist i have admired for the past 17 years or so but i didn't hang around to get anything signed. sorry but i've seen siouxsie in better days and i'm not going to pretend this was even close and cheer her on by hanging around and doting on her every word and movement. the band was really solid but it was empty and soulless. it's not their fault they're not the banshees. it's not their fault these songs lack substance. but i wasn't charmed by any of them. there was too much gear on stage. the guitarist broke out a les paul and no song siouxsie has ever sung necessitates such rock power. on top of that, siouxsie's voice has been stripped of all interestingness. that's a really harsh way to put it but longtime siouxsie fans know that she can't sing like she used to (blew out her vocal chords due to improper singing technique) and going to see her live can be painful. that is a big reason why i didn't like "mantaray"--it was very boring vocally because it was kept in a monotone range so as to hide the fact that she can't hit notes anymore. well it was even worse live. i read some really great reviews of the shows by other hardcore fans and *tsk tsk* for the lies.
