sleeper cell and the l word [watching]

recent netflixes have been about catching up on tv shows. i went through the second season of "sleeper cell" and the fourth season of "the l word". for "sleeper cell", i just couldn't see how they could continue to carry on the show with the same lead character as surely one would figure out who infiltrated the cell. with the second season, there were still the elements of danger and surprise. i think this time i was less critical and enjoyed it purely for it's entertainment value. the show in general is interesting enough that i'd continue to watch it should it continue but it seems like the creators will not continue the show.

for "the l word", this was the first season i actually liked. otherwise it's been a pretty average show. this is the first time i was actually drawn to some of the stories and characters. perhaps the writing/acting is getting better or i've just become accustomed to the kitsch of it all. i still hate the character of jenny and the papi character is a bit *yawn*. what drew me in was that i was rooting for bette and jodi. i thought the skills of the actress who plays jodi were really strong. it's not one of those patronizing things because she's deaf. i just thought her acting is on another level compared to a lot of the other people on tv. plus she's i think the first character to really fuck with a character on the show. i mean, to make them come out of their shell and challenge themselves. those are the moments in life you remember and so far the show's plots haven't been that significant. i felt more like they were ploys at what has been done before on other shows/films without bringing anything fresh or new to the table. season four was different and i'm actually looking forward to season five. except, i don't have cable so it's gonna be a long time until i see it.
