first day at ucla [working]

today was my first day at ucla which means i got the job and accepted it, obviously. i didn't know how long it will take for commuting and i'd rather get there early than be late, especially on my first day, but i left way too early! i'm supposed to start at 8am. i left at 5:30am and got there in a record 30 minutes! i knew i couldn't stay awake doing nothing so i found a side street and spent almost 2 hours trying to fall asleep. i went to get a parking permit at the same place i went before for an interview and the guy was a total dick and said i have to go to another place to get a permit for the lot i wanted to park in. i told him i got one here before (in fact i remember seeing this guy before even though i didn't buy the permit from him) but he still said no. fucker! so doing that bit of runaround, i got to the office just in time. ucla is different and it's weird for me. it's the kind of campus i hate which is precisely why i need to spend some time working there. not because i'm a masochist but because i shouldn't judge it without spending time there. so here begins my attempt at understanding large campuses.
