final day in distrito federal [traveling]

today was our final day in distrito federal. which meant we better buy all our gifts in a hurry and it's my last chance to eat something truly mexican! we went to yug vegetariano for breakfast. everyone else ordered the tastiest things on the menu, leaving me with only one choice for a vegan: nopales! that's fine, i wanted to eat something mexican anyway. (er, nopales are cactus, perhaps i should've mentioned that?) anyway, i would have been fine if the cactus were cut up and something done with it but they served me two huge slabs of cactus steak! it wasn't bad but i'm not a steak person, real meat or vegetable! i ate one cactus and couldn't finish the second. the salsa was quite spicy but i had to eat it in order to diversify the taste of the cactus 'cos really, it was just too much cactus.

cactus for breakfast

thus ends our mexico city trip. i bought several cds and t-shirts, including "i love df" (like the "i love ny" shirt so many sport). that's pretty much the summary of me: cds and t-shirts! i got some things for friends. i went to new places and tried new things. i paid way too much for laundry at the hotel but didn't have much choice as there was no time in our schedule to hit a laundromat. i got to experience a genuine mexican holiday. i still haven't been inside a mexican home or nightclub but i'll save that for next time.

i love mexico city. it's one of the few cities i love. it's wonderous and if you don't know much about it or the places i mentioned, please look them up on the net if they interest you. you could start off with the mexico df entry on wikipedia and mexico df entry on wikitravel.
