mr. triple cross vampire [watching]
recent netflixes include "triple cross: bin laden's spy in america" and "mr vampire". "triple cross" was done by national geographic and after watching one of their dvds, we have been watching some of their other recommended programs, leading us to this dvd in particular. it is about ali mohammed, an egyptian who was in contact with al qaeda and given assignments to infiltrate the us military and so forth. it seems that a lot of things he was able to do was due to negligence on the us part. perhaps sometimes countries are too eager to get spies or those who can provide foreign intelligence. watching this was kinda boring for me--never mess around on the computer while watching a film. i had to watch it several times to get the complete picture because my mind was distracted.
i netflixed "mr. vampire" because i longed to see a kyonshi movie like those i enjoyed as a kid in japan. hell, we even dressed up as kyonshi for halloween once. there was a tv show that was quite popular, it may have been from taiwan but i can't be certain. the show became so popular that they made a film and i went to see it in theaters. it was a group of children who fought vampires and they were led by a grandfather figure. the only character name i remember was ten-ten. i can't find anything about this particular show or film but i did find "mr. vampire" on netflix and settled with that. it was alright. it was something at least that i could show to american friends who have no idea what the hell i am talking about, though it was not quite as enjoyable as the kyonshi i remember. (it seems i'd have to live in japan again or at least get dvds from there to enjoy the tv show i watched as a kid, "rairai kyonshi".)
