windoze only [geeking]

i'm getting a little frustrated lately with windoze only sites and video files. i can't recall eaxtly which ones for sure but there are various site lately i can't use (such as for paying my utility bills) because they are for windows only and i'm on a mac. this means i have to check up on certain bills on my computer at work because it runs on windows. other times i have been downloading video clips to look at later and once i have downloaded the entire clip, i can't open it. either it's an avi file that won't open up (though i can see other avi files) or it's a flv file. i have mixed feelings about flv because i have yet to find a decent flv player for mac. various web sites i turn to for software options list that vlc is the way to go but i don't like that player. it seems clumsy and it also has some issues with playing flvs. *sigh* this sucks! i feel like i'm missing out. i don't miss all the restarts and downloading patches but i don't like feeling that my access to the internet is limited, especially now when i've got blazing speeds at home.
