the brown bunny [watching]
sometimes i put movies in my netflix queue because it was at a film festival and i didn't get to go, or i read a review, or it is connected to another film of interest, or i am interested in the filmmakers or cast, etc. there are many reasons. but the movies sit in the queue for so long that i often forget why i even put them in there. today i watched one of those semi-forgotten reason films, "the brown bunny". i think it was a combination of wanting to know the director's work, an interest in chloe sevigny, and reviews i had read (or uproar debate). damn, that movie... how can i put it? boring! you only need to watch the last 10 minutes. that's what the whole commotion is about. perhaps it would have been a good short film. to go through the pain of watching the slow development through a feature length was a bit much. and then when you do get to the end, it's porn. only watch it if you're really into vincent gallo, and i mean into him physically, or you really want to see what cloe sevigny looks like giving a blow job. i really felt like it was a guy film. it's all about guy pleasure 'cos it's about a fucking blow job. sure sure. it's about the main character's dealing with the death of his lover and all that jazz. whatever. that story could have been told sans porn. therefore, i must come to the other conclusion. that the filmmaker just wanted his cock sucked on film and others to watch. mission accomplished. now i have to go vomit. it was the biggest turn off to heterosexuality.
