pet peeves: lexicon [screaming]

i think what words i (dis)like is fluid. it depends on exposure. i used to hate 'hella' and 'dude' but after many "south park" episodes, i say them too. for the past few years though i've despised 'no worries' and 'thanks much'. i don't hear it often but when i do it's like nails on a chalkboard. at one place i worked at, those phrases were contagious. i noticed only 1 or 2 peopel saying it, but shortly it would be 4-5 people. perhaps it would take "south park" to get me to be ok with those phrases as well.

another thing i dislike is when someone suddenly catches new words into their lexicon that weren't there before. i've known someone for years and now some words have crept that bug me. when i was young and stupid i didn't mind when some people said things like 'honey' and 'sweetie' to me (it tended to be older women) but now it bugs the shit out of me. now it seems condescending in some way. i dunno, i can't explain it, it just bugs!
