meat in my freezer! [working]

our company barbeque was today. yesterday i went with my boss to get the food for the bbq. i was relieved that it wasn't just me. it was going to be me and my other boss but the company has gone through some changes recently so everything was left up to me. it's ironic and sad that the vegan has to take care of food for non-vegans. i'd almost bet my life that there isn't another vegetarian in the entire company. so i really am relieved i wasn't picking all the food that the non-vegans were going to eat. after we bought it all, we couldn't squeeze everything into the mini fridge at work. the only thing that would not fit was the frozen beef patties. fuck. i had to take them home and put them in my fridge. no one else lives close. no one else would be responsible enough to remember to bring them today.

there was also talk of who was going to be grilling the meat. you can get me to pick the food. you can get me to put meat in my freezer. but you cannot get me to cook meat! i'm so glad that someone else stepped up to the plate and took responsibility of cooking the meat. everyone else backed out and that was disappointing. the guys just want to eat. they don't want to help cook or clean up. that's the way it goes. it's nothing new. i did bring some vegan patties and tofurky dogs just in case someone was vegetarian but it was only me. i wrapped my tofurky dog in some foil and let it cook on the grill. afterwards, there was a lot of meat leftover and no one wanted to take it home even though i said i would throw it away because i can't eat it. i personally wrapped up the meat in foil and went by everyone again. still no takers. i held the meat over the trashcan and told them i was not kidding and i'm throwing it away. finally, someone took it home with them! i don't know if it's 80s babies or the y chromosome or southern california attitude but it's silly that i had to pack it up and be that extreme in order to get someone to take home leftovers.
