maxed out [watching]

today we were denied for cable internet again! today was the rescheduled day and the installers came. however they needed access to a box outside the building that is locked up. they said that the electricity provider has a key. i called them and they wouldn't help us out. they said they only open the box if something is wrong with the meter. i told them our landlord is abroad this summer so they're the only ones with a key. they wouldn't budge. i got so fucking pissed off at them that i just hung up. i wanted to say FUCK YOU and i thought about discontinuing service, if i could live with electricity...but i can't. so i just hung up out of frustration. damn this sucks.

instead of surfing the internet at blazing speeds and working on all the projects i had lined up that require internet, i watched the documentary "maxed out". it's about credit card debt in america. i thought it would be more about the personal debt individuals have, why this is, what we can do to overcome it, etc. instead, it focused more on the practices of credit card companies that seem to purposely give credit cards to high risk people and the malicious things they do (like not cashing payment checks) because they make the majority of their money off of late fees and minimum payments. it was just really insane that they do such horrid business practices. a little bit of the dvd as a whole covered what one can do to avoid falling into the credit card trap and tips on how to get out, but it's nothing common sense doesn't already dictate.
