i blog therefore i am [thinking]

lately not only have i been thinking about blogs (this one and others i would like to start), but i've been reading about them as well. i've been reading about what makes a good blog and stuff like that. mainly, your blog must have a purpose. what the hell is the purpose of this blog? i installed the software 4 years ago to see what it's about. but before i ever blogged or heard the word, someone suggested to me via email that i should blog because my writing style is like a blog. clearly that person was on the cutting edge and i should listen to them, mwaaahahahaa. here i am now pondering what's it all about. what is my purpose? does that dictate frequency? this daily entry thing can be wearisome. quantity not quality. but if the only readers are myself, a few friends, and random hits, does all this debate really matter?

there are a couple blogs i would love to get started. i have in the works 2 joint blogs about 2 different topics with 2 different friends. then i have a couple more vague ideas in mind for blogs and online communities. once those get going, will my focus shift and will i have less time for skullblog? when do i change the focus of skullblog, if at all? do i drop it in favor of something else more focused, or do i stop personal blogging altogether? these are the sort of questions i have to answer for myself. ultimately though, the question is: what is it that i get out of blogging? and what it is that i wish to achieve?
