all about photography [thinking]
today i am all about photography! i've spent the morning reading about digital cameras that function more like the old days, you know, let you focus and tweek the settings! in particular i have been reading about the canon rebel and accessories for it. damn, the camera isn't even the expensive part. it's the damn lenses! i knew it's like that but it was quite a shocking reminder to read about the quality of the camera, the lenses, etc. and then see the prices. *ouch* i also took note of a few books so i can read up on techniques, theory, and more about the camera in general. but most importantly, i need to feel the camera! i need to go to a store where it's on display and see if i even like it. i've tried sampling dslrs in stores before and i just didn't like them. i don't remember which models i played around with though. they just didn't seem easy to understand. it wasn't like a modern version of the manual camera i used in my high school photography class. it wasn't like any digital camera that i've used with manual settings. it was just plain awkward. so i'm hoping the latest rebel is easy to understand and use from just interacting with the display. if it is, then i have to start saving my pennies for it. it would be an awesome camera to have to work on my photography skills (which i really want to do) and to take vacation photos with at places with nice landscapes and seasonal changes. if i don't like the camera, well then that gives me more time to save and wait for the next incarnation of dslrs.

i am going to buy a DSLR camera very soon. After the wedding - before the trip? --maybe. I'll be taking B&W photography at UCB Ext. This summer and will be using John's Nikon 35mm SLR. I could have used mine if it had not been stolen years back. I had a hugely expensive lens that went with it and that's I probably learned their value when I tried to replace it. The camera is pennies in value compared to the lenses.
I hope to gain some useful skills in this class that I can carry over into my DSLR use. We shall see!! Flickr Beware!
