la vita e bella [watching]
today i finally watched "life is beautiful". i know it was a good movie and a lot of people saw it but i never did. i knew it was about life in the concentration camps and how a father tried to make life beautiful for his son. i knew that roberto benigni was in it. but that's all i knew. i netflixed it and didn't watch it right away. i had to be in the right mood and the mood finally struck. it was so good! it was not what i thought it would be at all. there are times when benigni is too much for me but this was not it. the film starts off as life before the war which is good because an entire film in a concentration camp would have been hard to pull off. the film is so charming at first. to see a man trying to win over the heart of a woman. charming italians. and then how after they are married and the environment changes, he still remains happy with his son in explaining the world and what is going on. (spoiler) of course for it to be poignant, he has to die at the end. but it's a good one and i'm glad i finally watched it.
