are you married? [living]
today was a day of errands but most importantly, we went to my mom's painting show. i have long thought that i would like to have a showcase for my mom, to display her art, but she just needs more of it. recently she told me she was going to have a show so i was happy for her but it was really only a show for the class she is taking right now. the school is having an arts and crafts day where the adult students are showing what they have done and some locals are selling goods. it was like a reverse open house. instead of the parents going to see how their kids are doing, the kids were going to see how their parents were doing! it was kinda weird like that. or maybe i was one of the few adult kids there. very weird to see adults do piano recitals but that's why i didn't hang out in the recital room.
there were a couple of painting classes with works on display. i didn't want to look at the tags for each painting to see the name of the artist. i wanted to just look at the painting and see if it felt like my mom's work. at the very last class i went to, at one of the very last paintings i looked at, i knew it was my mom's work. i looked down at the tag and saw her name. then i realized she was sitting right there next to her work, with her head down reading! hahahahahaa she told me she had another painting on display and i went over to look at it. the teacher of the class was there and my mom introduced us and this old lady asked me questions repeatedly that was starting to get on my nerves but i tried to be polite. "are you in school? do you work? are you married? do you live with your mother?" the school one always bothers me but she kept asking if i was married. she told me a little about her children (son still lives at home, daughter does social work) it seems like neither of her kids are married. perhaps this is one of her issues and that's why she kept asking me but it was getting annoying.
