weapons of unprecedented mass deception [watching]
recent netflixes seemed to go together well: "unprecedented: the 2000 presidential election" and "wmd: weapons of mass deception". "unprecedented" was a very nice look at the presidential election of 2000 and brought back the anger and frustration of those days. it pounded out possibly wrongs or strategy mistakes by both sides and is aimed overall with the failure of democracy in that election simply by not counting recounting as florida law specifies. just watch it.
"wmd" was good but too long. it's really too much information to absorb. as the filmmaker points out, it's his job to keep on top of what's going on in the media, and in his research for the film, he found out many things he didn't know, therefore the average person is going to learn a lot more and possibly be overwhelmed. that is the right word at times for viewing the film, overwhelming. it's just pointing out how the media can be deceptive, passive, or corrupt, take your pick. various examples of how american media operates in recent times with interview clips from journalists and other media watch dogs.
