the postman always rings twice [living]

no one uses our front door. no one. unless we have guests, then maybe. so it's very rare to hear the doorbell ring. today it rang twice. twiddle thumbs went to answer the door both times.

first, it was still daylight and it was a woman. before twiddle thumbs even opened the door, the lady was asking for her by name. ok, obviously it's not someone for the neighbors who mistakenly knocked on our door. turns out, the lady received our mail by accident. she lives on the same street, in the same # apartment, with the same last name, but in a different complex. i'm very glad that she was kind enough to give mail to the person it was addressed to. inside was really for me. something i ordered from japan. i'm so excited to finally receive it.

second, it was night time and it was a man. what sucks is that we don't have a peephole or intercom system. twiddle thumbs was cautious and didn't just open the door. she brushed aside the curtains to look out the window. the man started talking to her, er more like shouting. he kept calling her "mom" and it freaked her out. he was trying to sell or get donations for some youth program, but he was yelling and not making sense. he started to pull out a marker and a towel and was going to do some sort of demonstration when twiddle thumbs told him she wasn't interested. he left upset. funny thing, he said he's been talking to our neighbors but we didn't hear anything going on outside. he's so loud that we would've heard something. we were going to go out grocery shopping but we decided to stay in for awhile 'cos we felt creeped out. (what if he's still lingering about and when we open the garage door, comes into the house?) in fact, we decided not to leave the house at all tonight.
