maria full of punk [watching]
my recent netflixes:
"maria full of grace"
wow, this was a good movie. twiddle thumbs and her sister were actually watching this while we were in japan, but since it wasn't subtitled, or perhaps it was subtitled in japanese, i didn't watch it then. i really didn't know anything about this film. i didn't read the summary. i just knew the title and popped it in the player and watched it alone. i can't really place my finger on anything in particular, just that it was really well-done and entertaining. it's about what people do for money when they're desparate. in this case, smuggle drugs for money by swallowing many packets of the drugs and flying internationally. and then, what do you do when things start to go wrong and you don't speak the language of the country you arrive in.
"punk: the early years"
a crappily done film. not worth it.
"the filth and the fury: a sex pistols film"
this film was done much better and i think got me excited about punk like how when i first got into it. it was funny to hear steve jones talk about things such as the tour in america, how american girls are good at blowjobs and stuff. the film really seemed to revolve around sid vicious though. even though all these years have passed, people who knew sid always seem to tear up when they talk about him.
