i thought everything had been taken care of in late october back when i was calling the utility companies to transfer everything to my name. i didn't think there was anything left to do other than unpack. it turns out that the water company is incompetant. they are the only ones who did not change the information on file. they sent the bill to the landlord. i called them up again, furious, trying to hold back my anger. i dealt with another incompetent soul who i could hear consult with someone else in the office. she quickly gave up on me and transferred me to someone else without telling me. you know this person knows why i was transferred but they still start off with that greeting line of 'how may i help you' or some shit, acting like i just called and they are not aware at all. it's probably even the person i could hear in the background. the short story is that i was supposed to fill out an application and give a deposit(!), neither of which was mentioned by the first bitch i talked to in october. i should get very nasty on the phone or via letter (perhaps even in the memo section in my checks) but these people control my water. don't fuck with the utility companies. instead i think i will write a more cordial note about their incompetence and include with the application, deposit, and payment for current bill. a short scrawl, "don't screw up again".
