choson [watching]

i've been into north korea (democratic people's republic of korea) lately as a topic of current events and modern history interest. i'm interested in the dprk just because it is such a closed off society that i can't help but be fascinated by any bit that leaks out of there. i netflixed "north korea: a day in the life". i didn't think the documentary was that great, partly because of its short length (48 minutes). i suppose part of me missed the 'expert' way of presenting a documentary, by having voiceovers and things explained. instead it gives you a more raw feel. but with so little known about life in the dprk, i felt my mind constantly questioning what is going on. that is why watching the extra footage is essential. it helps to bring even things out and brings more understanding. then i started looking on the internet for more documentaries on north korea and read about several that interest me but they are extremely hard to find and the distributors want outrageous amounts for them. i began to read various blogs, articles, and debates on north korea.

if the topic interests you, i recommend watching also some things i just watched off the internet for free:
access to evil (windows media player, 44mb)
welcome to north korea (youtube, documentary split into 6 parts)
various clips found on youtube when searching for "north korea"

and likewise, some of the reading i did:
the daily nk
north korea zone
one free korea
