a tour of food and a trip of nostalgia [living]

el prind and heliosphan drove down from the san francisco bay area for a quick visit. they arrived about lunchtime and chilled for a moment. we engaged them in donkey konga on the gamecube. then we went to teashaker for appetizers, soup, and tea. we went back home to rest a little bit before heading out to our dinner reservation at pf chang's. the food and atmosphere were good, although it is always loud in there which can make conversations difficult. we went home and played board games, hisashiburi! or perhaps natsukashii is more appropriate. pick your favorite japanese word. (hisashiburi is like 'long time no see' to a person and natsukashii is more like when it's an object? that's my poor explanation of it. a natsukashii flavor, eating a certain dish reminds you of childhood. ah, 'a trip down memory lane' or 'it brings back memories' is the best english equivalent! thank you online dictionary!) we drank some wine. then topped it off with some awamori we brought back from okinawa. the awamori sobered me up. i must be okinawan ;)
