lala trades review continued [listening]
alright, so here are 2 more discs that i've traded through lala.com.
"do it yourself" by the seahorses. i wanted to hear what this band was like because it's what the stone roses guitarist john squire did post-stone roses. the vocals are an annoying version of the stone roses, oasis, charlatans uk, etc. the music kinda sounds like the stone roses if they took out everything i enjoyed about the stone roses. i just can't really listen to the songs as they irritate me.
"queer" by the wolfgang press. what an interesting band name. not to say that i like it, but it's always been an interesting name to me. i think back in the day there was a song i liked by them but i can't recall. i believe i wanted to hear this particular album because a track is used in a gregg araki film (of course). well, what is this? early 90s alterna-dance? i'm not sure if it's my thing but i'm also not sure if it's NOT my thing, do you dig? i'm not so sure about the vocals. they don't work for me on most of the songs. maybe if i had listened to this at the right moment closer to when the album was realized i would have made a greater connection with the music but listening to it now, it just seems dated.
