andrea signing twiddle thumbs's cds

we left work a little early and hurried down to catch aterciopelados do an in-store performance at amoeba on sunset but traffic totally sucked and we missed their entire set. we got there when they were signing autographs so we went in line and at least didn't miss that. when we had reached the front portion of the line, the roadie walked up to us and handed us the setlist. we didn't even ask for it! it must be our lucky day. twiddle thumbs swears that hector the bassist remembers her by name. she started talking to andrea the singer to ask if she liked the creatures cd we gave her at the last in-store appearance. then she remembered her/us and said she liked it. i don't care if she's lying, andrea is so nice! then i whipped out my things to sign and the members ooh-ed and ahh-ed over the items. i had a couple of promo cd singles they had never seen before. they were literally stunned and just stared at them. i would've given it to them but they had already signed them and they are fucking hard to find and i don't have that many things signed by both hector and andrea. i joked that they should ask their manager for them but said i would look around and if i found another, i would give it to them. we shall see.

gregg araki and me

as we were leaving, i bumped into gregg araki, one of my favorite directors. he had just paid for his cds and i recognized him and called him to him kinda loud, "gregg!", like i knew him. he must've been freaking out thinking, "where the hell do i know this bitch from?" i told him that i met him a couple years ago backstage at coachella but he was out of it so i thought i'd give a proper hello now. he thought i said that i was out of it! no no boy, it was you! that's when jimmy duval was with him. gregg said that jimmy was actually going to record shopping with him today but was out of town. since i had my camera on me, i asked if i could take a picture with him. he was really surprised by this and said, "don't you want a picture with jimmy?". twiddle thumbs thinks that every time he's out with jimmy, everyone must want to talk with jimmy and not gregg. twiddle thumbs convinced him to take a picture by gushing about how much i like his work and that i even wrote a paper on his films for college. wow, i had forgotten about that for a moment. gregg said if he knew he was going to be photographed, he would've dressed for it! hahahahaa when gregg asked what my name was and didn't understand what i said, i knew he doesn't speak japanese. third generation perhaps? anyway, i was so out of it and didn't want to take up too much of his time that i forgot to ask any questions about his works! doh!
