now i'm the producer [listening]

i went with twiddle thumbs to her band practice again to serve as roadie but this time one of the members joke that i'm the producer. i hope there's no malice in that as i'm thankful that they let me hang out and listen even though i'm not participating. i suppose it's because after they play they ask if it sounded alright, which is just a natural thing to ask. i try not to step on their toes and be critical or suggest other arrangements. right now i'm just a cheerleader who wants to see everything gel. later on if things go well and they are willing to listen to suggestions, perhaps i will make them. right now i'm really just learning their songs and what their sound is too. you know what? it's pretty good actually. i like it. i don't think we have the same influences or can relate to too many other things but we can bond over musical experiences. the other thing i did was record their rehearsal. it will be a great tool for twiddle thumbs to practice with but there really isn't time for that! i think taping tomorrow's show will be better suited for practice. recording tonight was more about getting used to using the mini disc recorder again, setting the levels and all that. i had one bad experience where the levels were too high and it caused major digital distortion, which is never pretty. ever since then i have been too cautious and record far too low. i did again tonight but that was more due to the limited circumstances of the amplification setup. i hope to get a much better recording at the show tomorrow.
