i'm the roadie [living]

tonight i was twiddle thumbs's roadie again. i helped to load the congas into the car and drove her to band rehearsal. when we assembled the conga stands last week for the coffee shop performance, we didn't do a very good job and one of the legs had become loose by the time we arrived at the coffee shop. it was too late and we didn't have any tools with us. i can't find the damn conga wrench so we use whatever is in the garage they rehearse in. i tightened them up good this time, too good. i overdid one of nuts and messed up the threading! oh well. the stand's not wobbly so that'll do, pig.

tonight they went over every song they will play for the show on friday so that twiddle thumbs knows what the all sound like. they will probably play 7 songs, maybe one more if the band after them is late. that's a lot for twiddle thumbs to learn. she has to master at least 2 songs every night before the show. one of the songs is pretty easy so that takes care of #7. she came up with a simple pattern that i don't think will change. as joe strummer of the clash once said, a band is only as good as their drummer. no pressure!
