anti-social vegans [living]

for lunch twiddle thumbs and i took along nopalita to go to the vegan meet up at native foods in costa mesa and we met up with twiddle thumbs's co-work josh and his girlfriend there. it's funny how we are collectively anti-social. we got there and the vegans had gathered in the outside dining section, which seemed to be filled to capacity. instead of at least going out there to say hi, we decided to just keep to ourselves indoors. i mean, the should've at least had a sign or once the outside tables were full, went around inside and asked around if people were there for the meetup. put it this way, unless you already knew about the meetup, there was no way to know there was a vegan group meeting there. if you want your little club to grow, you have to make people aware. perhaps there were diners there who would have been interested. afterall, they are already eating at a vegan restaurant!

after lunch we went to humanitaire, the vegan store right across from native foods. we only meant to browse but i saw that their selection of shoes had greatly increased and since josh was already trying out some shoes, i decided to try out some shoes too. i need to find a good pair of walking shoes for the trip to japan and of course i'd prefer it if all shoes i bought from now on were vegan. i asked the shopkeeper her opinion on comfortable shoes and tried on several styles in sizes larger than i normally wear since these vegetarian companies tend to make small sizes. i did end up buying some vegan shoes from macbeth.
