i'm so tired of people who can't spell. i'm taking about very basic things such as the use of an apostrophe ('). i think that either our public education system is so broken that people aren't learning and retaining the basics or we're just so fucking lazy that we become stupid. it seems like americans forget that the apostrophe is like a place holder when you remove a letter(s) or how to use it to show possession (i.e., parent's versus parents'). for example, i drove behind an old man with a custom license plate frame which read as follows: "woodworker: i'd love to smooth you're wood". let's write this out in the long form folks and you will see the stupidity: "woodworker: i would love to smooth you are wood". just dumb! i'm surprised that it was an old man with this plate as he should know better. maybe his retarded offspring made it for him as a gift.
i also see a lot of mistakes via email at my current job and my previous job, but much more so at my current job because the workers are just much younger and less educated on average as opposed to my previous job. sometimes though my fingers are detached from my mind and i have made dumb typos but that's because we all make typos. i just feel like a lot of the time it's not typos, it's that the people making the mistake really don't know the difference. common mistakes i see in emails are: there's versus theirs, it's versus its, know versus no, waist versus waste, buy versus bye, break versus brake, right versus write, do versus due, where versus wear, threw versus through, hear versus here, customer versus costumer, manual versus manuel, etc.
p.s.
i finally watched "un chien andalou"!!! this is the famous surrealist film that luis buñuel and salvador dali collaborated on. for so many years i have wanted to see this, being a fan of dali's paintings. i've had it on my netflix list forever and a couple weeks ago i bumped up a few things i've wanted to see for a long time. i just can't sit on things any longer! the only time is now! you have to make time for things otherwise it will never happen. that is why i got off my ass and finished "the fellowship of the ring". that is why i got off my ass and make the blog tweaks that i think about all the time but never do. that is why i finally watched the film! when it arrived today in the mail, i took a look at the envelope to see the running time and was surprised that it's less than 17 minutes! a film that short? i couldn't put it off. i popped it in straight away. the only thing i knew about this film was that an eyeball is sliced. wow, what an impact! there are just so many images that burn into your mind. what an influential piece. i see how this shocked and rocked people. if you've never seen it, find a copy and watch it immediately.
