ghetto tennis [gaming]
twiddle thumbs is concerned about her niece who needs to exercise more and regularly. we were supposed to start a weekly program where we take her out to do something every tuesday but tonight was the first time that we have so i guess the program has begun. we went to play tennis and we picked up twiddle thumbs's older sister too. the park we went to was completely packed. the only other place the ladies could think of to play tennis was at a high school. we got there and all the courts were locked. we decided to play just outside the locked courts on the blacktop where there are polls to rig up volleyball nets and there is also a space to play basketball. so there we were on the volleyball courts without a net of any kind. there were no lights either and the sun was about to set. i showed their niece the two basic moves and how to stand in the ready position. and then we began to play ghetto tennis. it soon grew too dark to see the ball and the school security kicked us out. next time we'll go earlier and get a court. or perhaps try a different sport altogether.
back at home i continued to study spanish but with new books! yes i found more books to learn spanish that my mom has on a bookshelf that has been moved to the garage. one of them is something like "see it and speak it in spanish" (many drawings of items) and it was published in 1961. the other looks like it is the accompanying book to a language tape. i think we bought this in elementary school or high school. i have a vague recollection of such a tape. i couldn't study too long because i was tired and the books were boring. it was actually fun to do the children's book and read the learning spanish through comics (published in japanese of course) book the past 2 days. i would sit on the bed and write out the words, which reinforced the new vocabulary, and say the words out loud. then the next page would usually be a quiz where you would have to write the words yourself or match them up. this is how i'll judge which words to focus on to build up my spanish lexicon.
