i have never watched a marx brothers movie before but i think i've seen the three stooges several times on tv (not my thing but when i was a kid i was a such a tv addict). tonight i watched "cocoanuts", the first marx brothers movie, because the tape is downstairs and i stare at all those vhs tapes i have not seen before. i will tackle them all eventually. it was their first movie and it was made when talkies just started going so pretty much everything back then is awkward like filming a stage play and throwing in dancing girls to fill the time. even still, it was pretty good. good in that it was a good introduction for me to the marx brothers comedy. just great play on words and physical comedy. plus, harpo is wonderful on the harp (hence the nickname) and chico is wonderful on the piano (no, he never was called piano). it made me look them up on imdb to learn more about them. now i want to see their other classic films such as "duck soup". hell, maybe i'll even be groucho marx for halloween ^_^
