clean, yosc, clean, teashaker, clean [living]
this was my day...
1. clean. i was tired of the mess that had accumulated in the room. the mess only accumulated because there is no place to put this stuff. it's been so freaking hot that on the floor is a pile of blankets no longer used. i redid the closet a little bit in order to make room for the blankets and warmer clothing for cooler weather. of course i washed the blankets first. i am also sick to death of the ants. they have become a problem again, probably due to the heat. i got distracted when my mom started asking for help to network her printer. you know what, i don't have time for this crap. answering my mom's technical questions always suck up my time so that i am late to go somewhere or i am late to go to bed, hence waking up late and then am late to be somewhere.
2. rushed off to attend the yosc meeting because, surprise surprise, i was running late. supposed to be 1pm-3pm but i didn't leave until past 4pm. and what did we accomplish? nothing! we only decided that things will be decided at the next meeting. jesus christ...
3. went back home for more cleaning!
4. i couldn't wait any longer. twiddle thumbs wasn't there to go with us but i finally took my mom and her boyfriend to a favorite vegetarian restaurant, teashaker in el monte. for once, they loved it. they have hated some other places i took them to but teashaker is asian so they loved it. it went well with their food sensibilities. i had the ginger chicken noodle soup, my mom had tom kah kai (i recommended she try it since it's delicious here), and her boyfriend had the chow mein. they loved how the ice cream costs only $1 as they tend to order ice cream for dessert, especially after eating spicy food. the only complaint my mom had was that at first her plum tea was good (they both copied me and ordered plum tea) but then halfway through it tasted too strong and she couldn't finish it. that that was her only complaint is a wonder. my mom talked to the owner (whom we are friendly with) about the food and where she can buy stuff like it. truly amazing.
5. went back home and finished cleaning! i looked in bags and found items from the tofu festival 1 year ago. my god, have these things really been sitting around for 1 whole year? free pens and personal fans. little junk. but also in the bag were books for learning spanish, both in english and japanese. i honestly have no idea where these came from but it's time to learn! i've wanted to learn since i was in elementary school but never took a class. i have only bought a small dictionary (in junior high) and more recently a small child's book. now it's time to get serious. i want to learn spanish so that one day i can do a latin american road trip, etc. hence, tonight began my first night of learning spanish. it's an easy book i am starting off on but i am surprised to realize how much vocabulary i already know and the ones i don't know. for example, i don't know the word for yarn. when the hell do i ever talk about yarn in any language?! the book wasn't teaching the word for yarn, it was a numbers lesson. there were say 6 oranges and 8 balls of yarn and so forth and you had to write down how many there were. i wanted to step it up a notch and write out in full the number and the object. hence, i did not know how to say ocho bolas de yarno or whatever it is.
