she wants revenge [listening]
last night we went to go see she wants revenge at the wiltern. we got there and met up with nopalita and her boyfriend, joycelyn and her sister. i haven't been to a concert with that many people in a long time. we've been to the wiltern a couple of times and i really like the place for the convenient parking and art deco decorations inside the theater. this was the first time we went up front on the railings so i'll give some tips for those that want to get up in front at the wiltern:
1. go early! it's first come, first served and they only give let a few of the wristband people (lower level up front) into the pit.
2. if you have to go to the restroom, get your wristband first, secure your spot, then tag team with your friends to use the restroom and do it as quickly as possible. (we were all able to use the restroom just before they stopped letting people in the front.)
with the limit they put on people going in the pit and the house rules of no stage diving and stuff, it was so damn nice! i don't think i've ever been to a more pleasant concert. no one's body flying over my head and destroying my neck, nobody pushing and shoving to the point where i get bruises, etc. the only bad thing was the idiots behind us who kept drinking and spilling their beers. as we were waiting for the show to begin, i thought about how the crowd was not my crowd. i felt like we were hanging out with twiddle thumbs's little sister's friends. i thought about going to see siouxsie and that's when i feel at home. going to see siouxsie is like hanging out with friends and family. i love it. but back to the show folks. it wasn't bad. the vocals bugged me at times. i wish they smacked some delay/reverb on it. the monotone-ness and inability to hit notes was pissing me off too much live. on the album, it's great. live bugs.
i don't know if you can call the encore an 'encore'! the whole band left the stage for 2 seconds when the adam the keyboardist/bassist came back to do "disconnect" and then the rest of the band joined him for more songs. they did a cover of "stripped" by depeche mode and i must've been the only non-die hard d'mode fan because everyone was cheering when it started and i was clueless. i could've done without the b-sides to make room for "monologue" because that's one of the good songs off the album that they didn't play. actually, if they had played "monologue" and "killing time" then i think they would've played their entire catalogue! i guess they're saving those for real encores.
