capote: a tale of a fag and his lesbian hag [watching]

i had no idea what "capote" was about. i didn't read anything about it. i never saw a trailer. i've only seen the dvd cover and twiddle thumbs wanted to see it. i know the name truman capote but that's it. ok, i'm game, let's netflix it! we watch it and hmm, how do i put it? it's an old movie made today. it's pretty good. it's slower paced. it's not about fancy camera work. it feels true to the period. it's about an important slice in capote's career. it's the process of him researching and writing "in cold blood", which i never read nor saw the film. i thought the guy playing capote did a good job. i thought the actor who wrote the screenplay did a good job. it's not a film i'd praise to death over as being the greatest this or that. it was just a good film overall for all of the elements of cinema but if i wanted to stare for 2 hours at a fag and his lesbian hag, i could've hanged out with so-and-so (name withheld to protect the fabulous!).

the one deeper thing the film made me think about was our judicial system and the death penalty. i don't understand why if we have the death penalty, why we don't go through with it. they seemed awfully quick in the film to execute going by today's standards in california. i mean, i can name a guy who has been on death row for over a decade and that's not an exceptional case. call me a jerk but if we have the death penalty in place, then we should go through with it much quicker so as not to waste tax money keeping the bastards in jail. sure i believe in preventative measures firstly, such as our society must change so that we take care of our people much more. with all our wealth, why do we have the most percentage in jail? that's not right, that doesn't sound like a democracy to me. back to the me being a jerk part, so if the death penalty is in effect, then give a limited time to the criminals to put in their pleas and stuff (i'm not 100% cold), but then that's it. once your time is up, it really is up. save money too. wait for 10 people or so and do them all at once. have them stand up in a row and see how much 1 bullet can do. thank you "schindler's list" for this cost effective idea! if not that, then let's send all the bastards to australia again. hahahaaaaaa
