an inconvenient screening [watching]

we tried to go the free screening of "an inconvenient truth" held by the LA filmfest but it was too crowded. we got there 40 minutes before it was to start but there was not a spot left in the area to actually see the screen. it was a pretty lously choice to hold it at the california plaza which is outdoors and pretty much a corner inbetween the museum of contemporary art and a bunch of shops. we decided not to bother and we'd watch it properly in a theater. since we had paid for parking, we decided to wander about. we walked around the walt disney concert hall, our lady of the angels cathedral (that big new catholic church which you can see off the 101), the LA superior courthouse, the LA department of water and power, and that general area. it was sunset time so we had to walk around quickly in order to take pictures. it was a nice change of pace but i really wanted to see that damn movie.

a place for friends at the walt disney concert hall

earlier in the day we took advantage of an opportunity and bought some used mac G4s for $150 each. they need some upgrades (one of them doesn't have any memory in it at all) but we figure we can give one (or sell it super cheap) to family members so they have a computer and the other one we can use for art projects. buying used macs is like rescuing them from the pound. i love rescuing macs. free to good home is better though. i had a really weird moment though when the little girl of the parents selling the mac walked up to me and put a piece of meat in my hand. how do you tell a baby that you're vegan? i was freaking out inside and just said to her to please take it and she did!

p.s.
we've been back from new zealand for 1 year. i can now officially bitch about the heat--it's fucking hot!
