gay cowboys eating pudding [watching]

i finally watched bearback, er "brokeback mountain". man, i don't know what the big deal was with this movie! i mean, really, what was it about this movie? it had gorgeous scenery but that was about it. the narrative didn't pull me in. plus, the gay cowboys aspect isn't shocking to me because i always thought cowboys were the gayest thing out there--10 gallon hats raise cocks everywhere. c'mon people, what happens when men are left alone for long periods of time? cowboys. sailors. inmates. i guess it just goes to show you that the bible "belt" is really more of a blindfold. and whatever isn't considered 'normal' is usually a shoe-in for an oscar nomination and considering the academy's history, i shouldn't equate nominations as a sign of quality. normally i don't, it's just that this film had so much hype.
