valiant [watching]
netflixed "valiant", an animated feature. when the trailers were airing for it on tv, it didn't seem too interesting but i thought i'd go see it at the cheap movie theater. i didn't even do that. watching the film, it was pretty good. in fact, i'm mad at the powers that be for fucking up on the advertising of this film. if they had made the trailer say what the film is, then i would've seen it in theaters and i bet many more would have too. i think this one bombed due to the crap trailers. it seemed like just another little kid wants to roll with the big dogs movie but it's not at all. it's a historical film from the perspective of animals but of course with the animated comedy twist. it's about the messenger pigeons of WWII. i liked the british pigeons and french mice versus the nazi falcons angle. it was a cute way to tell history i guess. some days i feel like one of the last people in the world to get certain references, such as the french mice playing edith piaf's "no regrets". i bet most people thought it was just some sad french song to play since they were in france and the pigeons were about to go off on their mission. *sigh* now i'll have to wait for the sequel and the sequence with "la vie en rose".
